What We Do

Reading to Riverbend Head Start Children 2023

The Collinsville Sunrise Kiwanis Club serves Collinsville, Illinois and the surrounding area covered by Collinsville Unit District 10.

Some of our local projects include:

Our annual Christmas Shopping Event-Each year the club takes about 50 children in need from the Collinsville Unit School District shopping for clothes. Afterwards, we go to a local bowling alley and have a pizza party on us. The Bowling Alley leagues collect toys for the kids and a food basket for each family.

Riverbend Head Start-We recently began working with the local Head Start program. We give them an annual monetary donation and have added using Kohl’s cash from our Christmas Shopping event to buy car seats and porta cribs for their Safe Travels/Safe Sleeping program.

Willoughby Farms-One of our pet projects is Willoughby Heritage Farm in Collinsville. Throughout the years we have provided funding for a pavillion, a ramp for handicapped accessibility for their wagon, a wheel chair swing, a kids coral, an outdoor education center and more.

SOS Soup Kitchen-We prepare and serve a meal at the SOS Soup kitchen 4 times a year.

Scholarships-We offer our Key Club kids the opportunity to apply for $1000 scholarships annually.

Mississippi Valley Library System-We support our local library system by donating books and funds to improve the children’s library at the Collinsville and Fairmont City locations.

Drost Park-Annually we partner with Illinois University Master Gardener’s program to help ready the park gardens in the spring.

YMCA-We donate annually to assist the Collinsville Maryville Troy YMCA continue to provide programs and camp opportunities for local children.

Priority One-Each year we select a program that works with children 3-5 years old. The chosen program recieves a $1000 donation.

And more as we see a need in our community!
